Prehnite Earrings

Lovely pale green prehnite cabochons set in smooth sterling silver hinged bezels, with sturdy sterling earwires. These particular stones are considered rare as they are fairly transparent, allowing the innate inclusions to be distinct and visible.

Prehnite has the distinction of being the first mineral named for its discoverer, Colonel Hendrick Van Prehn in 1788 in Cradock, South Africa. He was a Dutch mineralogist and a governor of the Cape of Good Hope colony.
