World renowned for quality lost wax casting, the ancient city of Benin in West Africa produced multitudes of cast brass and bronze objects mostly for the royal families of the late 1800's. Despite the disappearance of the Benin kingdom, the present day Yoruba people of Nigeria continue to produce these artworks inspired by the royal art of Benin.
This old Benin pipe is 21 inches long. The bowl is 6 inches high and 9 inches around. It is solid bronze with remnants of old leather wrappings.
